How To Clean Your Closet

How to clean your closet 101

This next article is about how we are able to get rid of the old items in our closet to make room for new ones. If you open your closet and can't seem to find one piece of clothing that you have in mind then you know it's time to clean out a few things. Here's an article where I give you my personal experiance of cleaning closets regularly. Yes regularly! Why, you may ask, well because we go shopping every so often and grow out of our previous buys. So to make room it's out with the old, in with the new!
Let's get started! BTW This method can also be used in drawers.

- First things first you will want to take out every single piece of clothing from your closet.

- Make a pile for blouses, tees, long sleeves, dresses, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, jumpsuits, and pants which include shorts and jeans.

- When you have seperated all your clothes go through each pile carefully. At this point you want to get rid of any piece of clothing you haven't worn in 6 months to over a year. I guarantee, from personal experiance, you wont wear it again.

- Don't forget to take out shirts or pants that don't fit or don't go with your style anymore. We need to make room and organize the clothes you have left.

- When you have finished seperating the clothes you are going to keep you're almost ready to organize them. Keep in mind you can donate your clothes to a Goodwill, Salvation Army, thrift store, or a consignment shop that gives you some money for your used clothes.

- There are many ways to organize your closet but I usually use two methods in one.
   * First I seperate all my colored tee shirts into appropriate colors. EX: Black tees together, purple tees together, and every other color you have.
   * Begin to put your colored tees back into your closet.
 - Next seperate by category. Tanks, tees, blouses. Once you have hung up your shirts lets move on to the next category.
- Seperate your cardigans, jackets, and heavier sweaters. Either place them in the back or front of your closet.
- After you can place your day dresses, night dresses and party dresses going from the front of your closet towards the back.
- Now we have our jeans, shorts and jumpsuits left, organize them by length and place them behind your tee shirts.

If you have organized your shoes on the floor of your closet make sure you actually wear those shoes, they fit you and are in good condition.

If you have shelves on top of your closet you can use that for your purses.

By now your closet space should have increased at least 20% or more!

Helpful Tip:

While you clean out your closet remember to look for those signature pieces that can add to your wardrobe. The ones that stand out the most are keepers. Just remember to have something to pair it with!

The Want List Revisited: January 2011

So I went back to the beginning of my blog where I had posted a blog about a want list. The want list is sorta like a wish list but with the outcome of actually obtaining the items on the list. I am happy to say that before the year is over I have been able to get a few items on the list! A lot I noticed were gloves and unfortunetly could not find a pair anywhere that I really trully liked. But here are the items I was able to buy!

1. I was able to finally find this spike necklace! I know it's not the spike bracelet I wanted but it's soo awesome! From Forever 21

2. I also was able to buy this super soft and gorgeous green cheetah print scarf last year in Forever 21

In our previous posts we have discussed how to be stylish with your hair, make up, and jewelry! But we'll continue or Fashion Queen series with How to Look Stylish with Accessories! These accessories include bags, scarfs and shoes but there's more to it than just those three categories! Hope these few tips and tricks that I've learned throughout my experience help you guys out too! Make sure to leave a comment with any helpful advice! Let's get right into the secrets!

Bags!

There was a time when bags were my main obsession and if you notice these three categories have all been my obsession at any given point. Who can blame me when sometimes there are beautifully made goods that are eyes can't stop staring at! From Dolce & Gabbana to Tory Burch, they've all inspired amazing pieces! What's in trend now? Animal print. Sequins. Bright vivid neon colors. From clutches to overside totes. Bring out all the stops because it's gonna be huge this fall and spring!

Scarfs!

If there's one thing I people know me for it's for the scarfs! I love them and think they are so fashionable and seem to make any plain outfit instantly chic! I've been collecting scarfs since 09 when I first entered the Forever 21 store in New York. Who knew it's be love at first sight as my eyes settled on all the merchandise and it was in New York! I couldn't resist!
So for those fashionistas looking for a light weight accessory that won't be too much of a hassle scarfs are the way to go.
They keep you warm and stylish in the winter. Choose chunkier material or larger scarfs.
For the summer I'd opt for a silk scarf just to tie around your neck or even on the handle of your bag. You can also use a scarf around your wrist or as a headband. That's why I love scarfs, there's so many possibilities at any given moment!

Here's some inspiration! Gucci Silk Scarf and chunky knitted scarfs

Shoes!
The greatest accesory of them all!
With Shoes you can be as crazy or as conservative as you want! But remember to be stylish always! I love shoes because they can brighten a plain black or neutral colored dress instantly! If you need a little help tying your outfit together or making in go over the edge then shoes can help you out! There are styles and colors for every single person! I love looking at new ones and finding amazing sales on beautiful shoes!

Mega platforms, wedges, laces, bright colors, and also color blocking!
