Beach Essentials

Hello everyone! I'm back from my vacation and decided to post about the few things I consider to be essentials at the beach! This summer I plan to head out to the beach a lot and usually vacation out there. So I want to def bring the least things possible and the most important things because at the beach you carry everything yourself. So let's begin!

Firs things first bring Sunscreen! It is so important to protect your skin from the powerful sun to avoid skin cancer as much as possible! I def need to protect my skin because I am so white and the sun burns me immedietly.
The next is to bring a sun tanning lotion (with SPF). I love getting a tan but find it to be the most difficult thing ever. I burn so easily and peel fast. So I have found the best solution. Slather on sunscreen first and then spray the tanning oil with SPF after to get a nice bronze look.

The next is a good book to entertain you for a few hours while you bake in the sun or relax under the shade. I like to bring something short and simple. This time I brought Pride and Prejudice one of my favorite movies!

The following is a texture cream for the hair just incase you're not going home right after the beach. This is a great way to keep your hair tamed and with natural beach waves!

We also need to protect our eyes so bring a cute pair of sunglasses!

Latest Purchases!

Hello everyone! So I've been going around picking up a few new things for summer and wanted to share them with you guys! So first things first I got two new books. The fourth installment to the Immortals series: Dark Flame by Alyson Noel and The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien. I can't wait to start the Lord of the Rings series as it is one of my favorite movies. I also love Alyson Noel's Immortals series as it is a great, quick read with a good story :) If you get a chance pick it up for a light, supernatural-fantasy read.

The next thing I got are these amazing floral shorts! Saw an Instagramer wearing a similar pair, except her's cost 3X as much as mine ($70!!!), so I went on a hunt and scored these for only 20 bucks at Macys! They are so cute and I love the print and so perfect for summer!

The last thing I got is the 30 Seconds to Mars CD!!!! Love Lust Faith + Dreams is their new cd and I had preordered it last week and go it today!! Extremely happy about that!! I can't wait to listen to it!

So my lovelies, I am leaving this weekend on a trip and will be back on Monday. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and stay fashionable! :D

The Want List: May 2013

Hello everyone!! Hope there Monday is going well! We all know how hard it is to wake up on a Monday so here's a fun post for you all! I wanted to share my lastest items on my want list! It's been such a long time since I've posted one and I finally found something I am lusting over!

First are the BCBG affirmation bracelets. They are so cute! My favorite one is the Love bracelet but the smaller ones are adorable as well! They are perfect when stacked with other thin bangles or a nice watch. I would love to get one but can't seem to find them anywhere!
Do you guys know where I can find them? Leave a comment below!

My next item on my want list are the circle skirts! These are just plain brown but the style is so cute! I love the skirts with floral prints or bright colors as well but again it's so difficult to find them! I know American Apparel has a few but they are rather expensive for my taste. I will keep searching and if you guys know where they sell them please let me know in the comments below!

What are your desires for this month??

The Met Gala 2013: Beauties and Not

The creme de la creme of Art Galas happened on Sunday night in the Metropolitan Museum, New York City. The theme for this event was punk and all the attendees dressed to the occasion with metals, spikes and leather! All the beautiful celebrities were there and here's an inside look of my favorite outfits of the night! Enjoy!

Who Wore It Best!
Rooney Mara and Riccardo Tisci:
Wow, Rooney looks so glamorous in this white gown and the fancy back (open back) is my favorite part of it all. The shoulders, I have to say, are amazing as well. She has really grown in her sense of style through out these events of the past few years. So proud! She wore a white Givenchy Haute Couture lace dress by Riccarco Tisci (creative director of Givency) Riccardo looked just as handsome, I'm sure he was dressed in Givency, and they looked so beautiful together.

Anne Hathaway:
Looking gorgeous in her new blonde hair, she wore a black vintage Valentino dress from 1992. She looks stunning and looks so modern! Her dress is vintage yet it looks like it was made especially for her. The details on this dress are impeccable! I am so blown away! (BTW this is how you do punk hair). Look how Gerard Butler looks at her <3 He looks gorgeous as well in that suit and bow tie, I must say.

Sarah Jessica Parker:
I love her and think she looks gorgeous, though I could have done without the headpiece. Her dress is absolutely stunning on her.
Headpiece is by Philip Treacy and Gilles dress.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely:
She looked so fierce in her metal dress by Gucci. It was a stunning black and gold gown!

Emmy Rossum:
All I can say is wow!! She looks absolutely gorgeous!! My favorite part of this dress is he back and the tail. Bravo Emmy! Her dress is a one-of-a-kind Donna Karen Atelier platinum embroidered lace gown and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.

Who Didn't Make The Cut:

Nicole Richie:
Okay, first thing that threw me off was the bleached white/blue hair, what?? I have no idea what she was thinking and maybe the color is the reason why I don't think she can pull off the pixie cut. I guess she took the theme "punk" to a wholenother level.
The dress is by topshop.

Dakota Fanning:
Dressed in a black and cream silk charmeuse Rodarte gown complete with wings on the back and cut outs. Sweety, what are you thinking? You're 20 years old and it looks like you don't have a stylist!
What you needed was a black short, skater style dress/gown, embroidered if you like and deff with cut outs to add that rebellious touch. Add some metals on your arms and fingers, pull up the hair and line those eyes. Sorry girl, this one just didn't make the cut.

Jessica Biel:
She literally layered every lace Giambattista Valli Haute Couture piece she could find to pull this off. Sad part: she didn't pull this off. I am not feeling those leggings, the shape of the dress, the cut, the style, nothing. It doesn't help that her face is so neutral. High and low dresses are meant to show off your legs, if you don't want that then don't chose it. Opt for a long gown with a slit if you want just a little showy. Better luck next time!

Sophia Coppola and Marc Jacobs:
Okay, I understand Jacobs dilemma of "standing out" and maybe this looks good in person. But right now, he looks extremely short (which I think he is) next to Coppola and the dots are not helping. Full on suit with dots is a no.
As for Coppola, what are you doing?? Go home and get out of your satin pajamas. (by Marc Jacobs go figure). Just because they look comfortable and you "didn't want to wear a gown" doesn't mean you should!! Stylist! Where was your head when you dressed this woman?
You're a celebrity for godsakes! Dress the part and enjoy it!

Miley Cyrus:
Um... what can I say but what?? The dress is blah, the hair is AH, the face is plain, and overall the look is not working. Maybe with a slicked back due it would have worked but this is taking it to a distasteful level. She's been going downhill ever since she dyed and cut her hair.

My Top 10 Musicals!

Hello girlies!! So this is out of the ordinary but I wanted to share some of my favorite musicals. I always loved these kinds of movies (though actual broadway shows are amazing!). The music is always beautiful and the songs are catchy. So here is a list of my top 10 must watch Musicals! There are alot but these are my ultimate favorites!!

10. Burlesque, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. Though it's not technically a musical but I love the dancing and signing that goes on for most of the movie. So that's why it's number 10!

9. Grease, starring John Travolta and olivia Newton-John. Danny (Travolta) and Sandy (Newton-John) fall in love while they were vacationing during the summer vacation. When they return back home Sandy transfers into Danny's school without even knowing it. and because she's a "good girl" and he's a "bad boy" their relationship is tested in the highschool environment.

8. West Side Story, starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer. This movie/musical is about the conflict between the Puerto Ricans gang, the Sharks, and the Whites gangs, the Jets and how a doomed love story strives to untangle themselves from these two rivals.
(also a book)

7. My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. This movie is based on the book Pygmallion. It's a great story about a young girl, Eliza Doolittle(Hepburn), who takes speech lessons from Prof Higgens (Harrison)  so she could pass as a well-born lady.
(also a book)

6. Cabaret, starring Liza Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Grey. It's set in Berlin under the ominous presence of the Nazi Party. I fell in love with this movie/musical the first time I saw it. It was so glamourous and mysterious. It is also based on a book!

5. Moulin Rouge, starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor (eep!) This one is about a poet (McGregor) who moves to underground Paris and falls in love with a courtesan (Kidman) who is being courted by a duke. Their love affair is completly doomed. The Paris background makes this musical so attractive and all the costumes of the Moulin Rouge!

4. Chicago, starring Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere. This musical is set in Prohibition-era Chicago and deals with the outrageous lengths people will go to to achieve fame. Absolutely love the music and the rythms make you want to join them. This was based on a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse (I must read it!).

3. Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews. Set in Austria right before the Nazis invaded. Andrews becomes a governess to the children of a Naval officer widower. Such a beautiful story with incredible scenery and music. A definete classic!

2. Les Miserables, which came out in 2012, starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathway, Russel Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, and Eddie Redmayne. This movie is about the life of one man in particular, Jean Valjean. How forgiveness and love give meaning to your life. It shows the relationship he has with the other characters as well. Such a beautiful and touching movie/musical.

1. We've made it to the top! This movie has stuck with me for years and it's Phantom of the Opera, starring Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler, and Patrick Wilson.
For those of you who haven't seen Phantom it is about the man who haunts the Paris Opera house and how he falls in love with the Primadonna, Christine. It shows what true love would do and how beauty is not in the physical but inside you.

All of these are a must see at least once in your life time. They are classics!
